Good luck Team Maldives at Rio 2016!

We hope that the awards keep rolling in this summer. After the incredible success of Lily Beach having won the World Travel Award for being the Maldives Leading All Inclusive Resort for 2016, the whole team would like to wish Team Maldives all the best of luck for the Olympic Games in Rio.

Four athletes will represent the Republic of Maldives in the Rio 2016 Olympics, celebrating the Maldives’ 8th appearance since they first competed in the Summer Games of 1988.

Two athletes will represent the nation in the sport of swimming: Ibrahim Nishwan will take part in the Men’s 50 m freestyle and Aminath Shajan in the Women’s 100 m freestyle. Track and Field will see two athletes from the Maldives competing: Hassan Saaid in the Men’s 100 m and Afa Ismail – Women’s 200 m.

Swimmer Aminath Shajan has been chosen as the nation’s flag bearer in the Olympics opening ceremony in Rio.
